Meet Reuben Somerford
Before starting Cascade Coffee, I spent a few years working in accounting, moving between offices that all had one thing in common: a decent coffee machine.
Making barista-level coffee at work was a great point of happiness for me, and while I may have enjoyed making the coffee more than the accounting, it had a nice impact on company culture. Every morning people would gather around it, quick chats or a break from the desk, and it would save us a trip to the café down the road.
One weekend I decided to order some green (unroasted) coffee beans and tried roasting them in the kitchen at my flat. After about 10 minutes I had set off every smoke alarm in the house and my flatmates were terrified. It was chaos, but against all odds, the coffee tasted great.
So I gave it a crack, and decided to quit my job and start a business.
(These days everything’s professionally roasted, no more frying pans involved.)
We launched in 2024 with a goal to supply offices and homes with consistently great coffee, and make the process as easy as possible. Since then, we’ve grown from only one coffee bean, to a tight, focused range delivered across New Zealand (and Australia).

So, what's the problem?
Lots of workplaces invest in a great espresso machine… then stock it with average supermarket beans and hope for the best.
Then someone has to remember to buy more.
And it runs out at the worst time.
And the quality’s inconsistent.
Good coffee shouldn’t be this complicated!
What's the solution then?
Two things.
1. We built a small, focused range of coffee that tastes great, something to really level up your home or office coffee-drinking experience, and...
2. We make ordering easy. A quick bookmarkable form if you need a top-up, or a standing order if you’d rather set and forget it.

Where we’re based
Cascade Coffee Co. is based in Auckland, New Zealand, delivering fresh coffee to homes and workplaces across the country (and a few mates over in Australia too). You'll often find us at local farmers markets around the city, so keep an eye out!
